Dr. Ali Safa, MD

After waiting 2 months for my appointment, I found out the day before that I was required to bring an ultrasound report. I was told the ultrasound would be done in the office. As a MS patient with cognitive impairment and three thyroid nodules, I found this office to be substandard and to break the oath of "Do no harm."

Dr Safa coordinated my surgeries and managed my thyroid cancer and follow-ups. He is very thorough, spends time explaining everything. I owe him my health.

I have been seeing Dr. Safa for more than a decade. In my opinion, he is the best endocrinologist in the entire DMV. Dr. Safa and Andrea (nurse) go the extra mile to make sure I have the prescriptions I need, work with my insurance, explain new insulin pump technologies, and have availability to see me without long delays.

Dr. Safa ran all the tests as needed. Very impersonal doctor. Never EVER examined me. Never EVER checked my feet as all previous ENDO doctors would. Basically, if you need someone to do run tests without EVER examining you in almost 3 visits per year for 3 years, this is your guy.

I've been seeing Dr. Safa for a couple of years now and he has helped me bring my thyroid condition into remission. He's kind, knowledgeable and takes time to to answer all my questions and explains things well. I've never had problems getting an appointment or waiting past my appointment time, and his staff is very helpful. He also offers telemedicine appointments. I highly recommend Dr. Safa.

Have been a long term patient and really have been disenchanted over past few years. I have been getting care for Thyroid issues. Poor communication and this office is really not up to date on new technology and its utilization and communicating with you, or your PCP, etc.. This can be critical.

I was recommended to Dr.Safa by my PCP for the assessment of my thyroid nodule which eventually turned out to be cancerous. Dr.Safa is a very knowledgeable endocrinologist who also has great bedside manner. He is very thorough while also quite effective in examining his patients and always has a clear plan for the continued care. He makes sure all my questions are clearly answered and all my concerns are well addressed during each visit. He also referred me to a great radiologist and surgeon which makes the whole treatment process smooth and stress free. His office staff are also very respectful and responsive. I would definitely recommend Dr.Safa to anyone who looks for a great endocrinologist in northern Virginia.

I've been seeing Dr. Safa for 3yrs+. My hypothyroidism has been gradually getting worse, based on the results of my blood work. Dr. Safa denies this and continues giving me the same dosage of Rx. I have to change doctors for my health & well being. This guy doesn't really care. Avoid him. He doesn't care.

I had a terrible experience at this office. I'm honestly shocked at all the good reviews I'm seeing. Dr Safa was cold, condescending, and just stared at his computer the entire appointment. He was annoyed if I asked any questions and scoffed at suggestions other physicians have made about my condition. Even the nurse who drew my blood, while nice and friendly, did the blood draw so badly, I developed a huge bruise on my arm for the first time in my life. The only positive was the friendly and efficient staff. So if you are looking for a doctor who will answer all of your questions and concerns and who will truly care about you, this doctor is definitely not it.

I was very pleased with my experience at Dr. Safa office. He was very informative and Shows that he cares about his patients. I would definitely recommend him.

The worst doctor I have ever seen. The worst experience. If you want a full endocrinology testing for the source of your issues, go elsewhere. Save yourself some money and anguish and go elsewhere.

Excellent visit as always. Answered all of my questions in terms that I could understand and took as much time as I needed.

Dr. Safa is truly an expert in his field. I have had a superior experience as his patient for the past ten years. His level of care and knowledge vastly exceed any other physician I have seen.

Dr. Safa has been my primary/Internist doctor for over 35 years although he practices Endocrinology only (I've been grandfathered). He doesn't over medicate, over diagnose, over treat, over refer, over test. He listens, asks questions, and spends as much time as one needs, qualities I admire. I've never felt rushed in 35 years. I BELEIVE IN HIM.

I love Dr. Safa. I’m healthier because of him.
