Dr. Alford Vassall Jr, MD

Dr. Vassall treated me when he was in Stockton. He was the only one there that listened to me in the 9 months after my emergency c-section that something was wrong. He thought it might be Endometriosis and scheduled the surgery. He was right. He is truly kind, caring, and compassionate. He even gave me some very sound spiritual advice that 22 year old me wasn't ready to hear, but it echoed in my head for years. He was right again. I wish I could still see him!

Dismissive and insensitive. He was rough with the exam, extremely unprofessional and I felt completely uncared for and unheard. Condescending (multiple times talked extremely slowly explaining about hormones and monthly cycles to me -an adult female) I had been admitted twice in one week to the ER for what later was diagnosed as pelvic inflammatory disease (found on second visit) Seemed as though he made up his mind that it was “just hormones” and that I “should do pelvic floor exercises, hot cold compresses, and take Motrin.” Felt like I was transported to the past with an ancient doctor explaining o me how to deal with my “women issues” One point after the rough and overly painful vaginal exam He physically grabbed my arm to place it on my hip, bending the arm that had an IV in. I told him No because It was painful. He brushed it off as if I hadn’t even spoken. No doctor should ever behave this way.

During the ultra sound (trans-vaginal) he was whipping the probe around back and forth, which was very painful and uncomfortable for my wife. She expressed this to him several times and he did nothing different. He didn’t acknowledge her discomfort in any way. As he was doing this he was trying to figure out how to use the ultra sound machine, it was if he had never seen one before. It was as if I gave my grandpa smart phone for the first time and he was trying to figure out how to use it. He was literarily fumbling around with so bad the medical assistant stepped in 3 different times telling him how to use it. His inability to work the machine screamed incompetence. He was so unfamiliar with it, it was the most unprofessional performance by a so called medical professional I have ever seen. Trust me I have seen a lot. Then he proceeded to tell us in a round about we that she had a miscarriage, never directly saying that to us.

Without your help I could not have intercourse with my husband. Your injections have saved my marriage. Thank you. The diet plan we went over has helped me lose over 80 lbs .
