Lack of follow-through and communication
I’ve generally had good experiences with Banner Health, but my experience with General Surgeon Dr. Alfonso Ballesteros has been disappointing. I visited Dr. Ballesteros on December 17 regarding gallbladder concerns. Unfortunately, he didn’t have any images or information from my prior ER visit. Instead, he quickly suggested gallbladder removal based on general symptoms I was experiencing symptoms I’m not even sure were gallbladder-related, such as gas, indigestion, and abdominal pain.When I asked if an ultrasound could confirm the presence of gallstones, he agreed, and I had the ultrasound on December 18. Since then, there has been no communication from Dr. Ballesteros’s office. I’ve received no details about the ultrasound results, no follow-up about surgery, and no response to a message I sent.The lack of follow-through and communication from Dr. Ballesteros’s office is extremely frustrating and not what I expected from Banner Health.

Great doctor and surgeon.
Had a perforated small intestine and Dr. Ballesteros did the surgery. He did a great job with no complications. Great personality and very thorough answering questions during his pre-op and post-op. Also interacted with other personnel from his office and it was a really good experience overall. I highly recommend Dr. Ballesteros.

Dr. BALLESTEROS was so kind, knowledgeable and empathetic. Really down to earth. He saw my urgent need for surgery, coordinated with my gastroenterologist and moved me into his busy schedule right away. I had wonderful results from my surgery! The office staff is top notch. Heather, his M.A. was so helpful to me and April his P.A. was great. So nice to be treated personably and compassionately especially in this day and time.
