Dr. Alexander Kent, MD

I have seen Dr. Kent for years. He is a wonderful ophthalmologist and a kind, caring and patient man. He always takes time to clearly explain things to me. I am exceedingly grateful to Dr. Kent.

I’m very knowledgeable regarding pigmentary glaucoma. I was diagnosed years ago and have had surgery. As a newcomer to Charleston, Dr. Kent was recommended. I had testing done in his office, as per his request. Three weeks later, I had an appt. to review the results. He emphatically insisted that I never had these tests, as he didn’t see the results in the computer. After 1-1/2 hours of sitting in the examining room, one of the staff, located two crumbled pieces of paper that were under a pile on his desk with the results. He never apologized. To add insult to injury, his technician took my eye pressure, pressed the device hard against my eyes and got the wrong pressure. When I told Dr. Kent, he blamed it on me blinking. However, when he took my pressure, miraculously, it was significantly lower. He again had no apologies. Arrogance certainly is quite descriptive for Dr. Kent. I have taken the time to write this review in hope of sparing someone else from this horrific experience.

I've been a patient of doctor Kent for many years. Doctor Kent has done many procedures on my eyes and all with the utmost comfort. He is a very professional and courteous and experienced ophthalmologist. He and his staff have a great personality, and it's a pleasure to be seen by him and his staff. I have and always will recommend him to friends and family.

Very professional exam and a nice man

Dr. Kent is the best ophthalmologist in Charleston. He has great expertise in examination, diagnosis, treatment, and surgery; he is patient and clear in his explanations and responses to questions. He is a truly caring physician. If only there were more like him in general medicine and in other specialties!

Dr. Kent is solving my problem after I struggled with it with years under other doctors' care, so I'm happy. He is very concerned about the cost of drugs too and doesn't rush into surgery. I have anxiety about eye exams, but he is very professional and puts me at ease. His nurse and one particular staff person can be a bit brusk and not overly helpful, but he is the reason to make an appointment, so just ignore them. The other staff members are just fine.
