Doesn’t listen
Dr. Alva does not listen. He doesn’t properly diagnose. He doesn’t give medication as needed. He’s not giving me the medication that helped me.

My nephew died when he had to go without medication. Dr. Alva’s office would not refill my nephew’s prescription which dealt with his addiction cravings and stabilized his mood because he had missed an appt. He called and requested a refill as he was out of medication. My nephew was told he had to wait for a tele-visit which would not be for a while. He went downhill rapidly with no medication and after a year of doing well and 6 months clean, filled with hope, friends and a strong community, he died due to drugs. This is very, very sad and I am heartbroken. He was 26 years old and we loved him very much. I am writing this because I want to make sure nobody has to go through something like this in the future with him or this Dr.’s office. I called to discuss it but I was informed that he refused to speak to us and would not have a conversation. Nobody from the office said they were sorry for our loss or anything upon hearing of the death.

He misdiagnosed me with depression when I really have bipolar type II. He said I had refractory depression; which is not in the DSM.

Amazing human an angel from God! I have seen many doctors no one helped me like he did , the combination of medication and his attitude towards life is what helped me ! So what if I have to wait two hours to be seen this only shows how good he is he's always booked ! This doctor treats over 30 people a day !

Dr Alva was great. But once the office staff changed, everything went downhill FAST. Thanks to this guy I had to deal with mental trauma because they could not make an agreement with the insurance company, leaving me in limbo for 5 months with no services and no medication.

For a first appointment, I waited over an hour to be seen. The staff handed me a 7-page patient info packet. It was not an emergency. Can't they mail it beforehand?? The actual conversation with the doctor was about 15 minutes. He's a nice guy, but not very perceptive.
