Dr. Alec Lui, MD

I only met with his PA which was a bit uppity. I saw the doctor for less than 5 minutes after the procedure and even though he had the results of the test the following Monday, I had to wait to speak with him about results the following Monday. And he only calls patients in the late afternoon, so if you’re working or not available late afternoons to wait for his call, you won’t speak to him. I’ve had GERD for over 20 years. Have had 5 endoscopies in the last 10 years and have been on GERD meds the whole time. I wake up choking and cough for about 30 after the acid comes out my nose. I had a CT scan showing I’m aspirating into my lungs. After the procedure he said I don’t have GERD. Never asked for any previous records from my last GI. Went in blindly and told me I and my doctors are wrong. Sorry but I trust my previous doctors more than a doc I never met before my procedure and spent 5 minutes with after and 5 minutes on the phone with results. Dissatisfied with this doctor/staff.

Dr Lui is by far the best Doctor that I have seen for my stomach related problems. He is extremely competent, caring and helpful. I could not be happier with the treatment that I have had from dr Lui. He has responded directly to me out of normal office hours and even when I was out of town with health issues. He is a fantastic doctor and has always been there to help quickly when needed. Amazing personal attention, concierge type service. Dr Lui is the best and I am extremely happy to have him as my trusted caregiver.

My first experience was at the office, to register as a new patient. The staff was friendly and very efficient, but I did not get to meet the doctor until the date of surgery (not at all unusual as I was referred by my family practice doctor for a specific problem). I was immediately pleased with the doctor, as he was confident and relaxed in the surgical setting, and the staff in the OR worked like a well oiled machine. When my wife arrived after surgery we had a meeting with Dr. Lui and he presented us with a detailed report which included color prints of the pathology, and a detailed explanation of his treatment plan and expected outcome. I have never had such a great experience with any of my previous gastroenterology experiences, and I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Lui to friends and family.

Dr. Lui was late for every single visit and I don't mean 20 minutes, I'm talking an hour to two. This was more than inconvenient, it was detrimental to his patients well being. He obviously has too many patients and it effects the quality of care that is given. I found him to be rude and insensitive when it came to communicating about the delicate subject of time remaining with the family of his terminal patient.

I was referred by my primary doctor and needed a colonoscopy. The office visit did not include a consultation with Dr Lui, only staff members....my previous colonoscopy about 6 yrs ago included the doctor meeting with me and showed caring and compassion before the procedure. I was given a prescription that was $160 instead of the $8 Mirolex that I had before. A staff member offered to put me on self pay with no insurance (I have Medicare) so that I could have the prescription at no chargeBEWARE

Dr Lui preformed the colonoscopy to confirm that I had Crohn’s disease. He spent less than a minute with myself and family and didn’t stay long enough to answer any questions. When I followed up in his office I never saw him I always saw Patrick who looked at me like I had 10 heads and would proceed to go call Dr Lui to see what to do, since he was never in the office. After my bowel perforated he has the nerve to tell my family it was my own fault. Needless to say I never returned.

dr lui quickly asessed my life threating problem .. he had it under control within a few days.. can't ask for a better Dr.

I have had gastro issues for 14 years, Gall bladder removal in 2002 and stint placement which I did not have removed when I should have 14 years ago. Lots of issues with stones and blockage caused by stones. Dr Lui has been wonderful I have been inconstant pain for almost a year he has preformed 3 procedures trying to correct years of damage and also keeping my pain at a tolerable level. I know he is very busy I believe he is the only gastro in Vero at this time but he is worth the wait to see

I visited his office 3 times and never saw him, just his staff. The only time I ever met him was after a colonoscopy for about 1 minute. He never addressed the problem I came in for. He clearly was unaware of the information I provided to his staff on the previous appointments. He never addressed my problem with me, nor did he refer me to another physician since he didn't know what to do.
