Uncompassionate and dismissive
I approached Dr. Smith’s office during a very vulnerable time, having previously experienced a miscarriage. When I suspected another pregnancy, I requested blood work due to my understandable nervousness. Unfortunately, the results indicated another miscarriage. During this distressing time, the communication from Dr. Smith’s office was less than satisfactory. Initially, I was informed that I was never pregnant and was merely receiving false positives—a statement that was later retracted to acknowledge the pregnancy as an early loss. The lack of clarity and initial misinformation added to the emotional toll of the situation. Furthermore, when I reached out to Dr. Smith’s office during a subsequent pregnancy, I was met with a response that felt dismissive. Despite my history of recurrent miscarriages, I was advised not to call until at least two weeks after a missed period. This advice seemed to overlook the importance of early intervention and monitoring in cases of recurrent losses.

Dr. Smith was on call during the delivery of my son. There were multiple other mothers giving birth in the same unit around the same time. I was a young single mother, 1st birth experience, and I was absolutely humiliated and my son almost died. Granted, I appreciate the fact that it was a busy time of the night/morning, but I was left bleeding profusely while my son’s heart rate continued to drop, I was told to prostrate myself on all 4’s completely nude, while “students” came in and out. My waters were broken prematurely in effort to speed up delivery, which caused my son to have additional distress. I ended up delivering my son, by myself, at the age of 26, a nurse was present I believe, but I was by myself and he was born blue and not breathing. Aside from the fact that his bedside manner was awful and rude, and I was treated like a drug addict, despite the fact that I do not so drugs, the simple lack of diligence, attention and empathy speaks volumes. Better off with a midwife.

GREAT DOC!
I’m VERY picky with whom I see and add to my health care team. After many reviews and research, I decided to go with Smith for my hysterectomy. I was pretty straight forward out of frustration and went in pretty much saying I wanted a hysterectomy. I had already gone through all sorts of treatments to stop the issue I was dealing with prior to seeing him. Smith excelled in listening and going through possible options, but since it was a little bit easier for me because again, I have already been through all of them, surgery was the next best thing. He walked me through all the steps and completed my surgery. For my follow up visit, he explained what he did, went over photos with me and actually found other issues I didn’t even know I was enduring. I couldn’t have chosen a better doctor for this procedure. The staff has always been friendly and personable. Wait times are a little long, but worth it if you want a awesome doc! Totally recommend!

I just recently had my 1st child (4 months ago lol) and i can honestly say that being under the care of Dr Alan Smith and his NP Leah Marks made my pregnancy one of the best experiences, Dr Smith and his team are some of the nicest and caring medical teams i've had the pleasure to experience, i was able to ask any questions without feeling like they were an inconvenience, he made sure i always understood everything that was going on and he made me feel so comfortable being under his care. I stated from very early on that i wanted to avoid a C-Section, he made sure to do everything in his power and give me all the information necessary to accomplish this goal, unfortunately after several hours and no progression we were forced to proceed with the C-Section and Dr Smith made sure he made me feel comfortable and ease my stress of the situation. I will absolutely recommend Dr Smith and his team to anyone who asks me they will always make sure this is one of the best experiences for you as
