Thanks for nothing, Doc
After extensive work ups, I was approved as a recipient for a kidney transplant at Wake Forest's Abdominal Transplant unit. The first doctor I saw after my approval, Dr. Rogers, told me that I was a very good candidate for a transplant, and that his aim was to see that I got one sooner rather than later. After a year, I presented for my annual reevaluation and saw Dr. Farney. I had been asked to lose some weight and had done so, but Dr. Farney nonetheless stated that my 'body shape' was somehow not conducive to a successful surgery. Frankly, my impression was that when he entered the room, Dr. Farney's goal was to see me removed from the transplant list and he succeeded in doing so. His rationale made no sense to me, particularly in light of the previous evaluation by Dr. Rogers. Long story short, I have been consigned to dialysis and my health has deteriorated as a consequence. Thanks for nothing, Doc.
