Spinal cord stimulator
I saw Dr Zemmar in his office after a trial of a spinal cord stimulator. During the trial the pain management specialist thought because of difficulty putting in the leads, I would need a paddle lead. On my consult Dr Zemmar explained what would happen, how it works, and risks. He answered every question. He is a patient doctor that never rushes a patient. Day of surgery he talked to me before surgery explaining what would happen and what I should expect afterwords. I have a condition, jackhammer esophagus. Evidently being intubated triggered it. Dr Zemmar had me watched closely in PACU. He also consulted my gastroenterologist. With help from my PACU nurse he was convinced I’d be okay at home. He had them hold me for hours. Dr Zemmar, Jessica his nurse practitioner, and the resident checked on me through that period. You can’t find a more knowledgeable, kind, and patient doctor.

We met with Dr. Zemmar regarding a temporal lobe tumor and were very impressed with the care we received. He was knowledgeable, which of course is the most important priority when dealing with such a serious issue. But what also impressed us was how remarkably kind and compassionate he was. He was very generous with his time and provided fair, complete and direct answers to all of our questions. At no point was he evasive or vague in discussing our case (our experience has been that this is not always true with neurosurgeons). Dr. Zemmar’s expertise was clearly evident, as was the fact that he truly cares about his patients. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that we had someone of his caliber in Louisville.

Dr. Zemmar is the most caring doctor you could ever meet. He went above and beyond for us. He removed the tumor of my husband and did an excellent job in the surgery and throughout his care. We are very very grateful to have found him!
