Things have gone downhill
We returned to Dr Miner (after a change back to Humanna) because we thought he was a wonderful dr. for my 94 yr old mom w dementia. In our last apt on Jan2nd blood was drawn. I mentioned to him that mom had not been eating and I was greatly concerned and we discussed a medication to stimulate her appetite. When I contacted his office a few weeks later re this, he had his nurse respond to me with old information regarding my mom's condition and I was told she needed to come in and be tested for a thyroid problem (blood was taken on Jan2). Also to give boost, small meals, vitamins and IRON (she had bleeding ulcers)!!!!!! and that she needed to be scoped by a gastro which had already been done as she's been going for 2 years. Dr. Minor should have known about because I told him. Apparently her records had not been updated and so you can imagine our disappointment. He said he would not help her at this time...When is the time...AFTER she gets down to 40-50 lbs again!!!! THIS IS BAD!

Pros & cons
Above all else, Dr. Miner is intelligent and extremely knowledgeable about pharmaceutical treatments for ailments/diseases. Unfortunately, from my point of view, he is not a functional medicine practitioner and may be too quick to recommend a pharmacological treatment for the symptoms rather than seeking cause and looking for natural solutions. This may often involve lifestyle changes. Nutrition does not appear to be his forte.

Dr M saved my life
I have been a patient of Dr Miner for the entire time he has been at Promenade Family Medicine. I trust his knowledge and medical opinion completely. I just had successful surgery for two subdural hematomas because Dr Miner responded to my wife’s after hours call and he recommended what he thought was the best head trauma hospital in Dallas, and he was right! I can deal with an occasional longer wait time in the lobby to get his level of medical knowledge in a family doctor. I’ve never had another doctor that I trust so completely.

We started seeing Dr. Miner when we moved here from Amarillo to Richardson 20 years ago. We continue to see him even though we have moved to Lewisville. Dr. Miner is well versed in almost anything we need to know about or any problem we are having. He is also willing to refer to a specialist if necessary. Have never had to wait long and fees have always been as they should be. We will continue to see Dr. Miner as our PCP.

I visited this place just to do an annual check up. Having medical insurance, I expected this visit to be fully covered. However, insurance company denied to pay for this visit. Being responsible, I wanted to pay from my pocket. Unfortunately, the office decided to violate their contract with my insurance company and charged some high random amount for the visit. When I asked for details, they didn't want to justify the amount. So, think twice before you decide to go here or you may face with similar illegitimate bills, especially if you need to do some medical procedures for immigration.

The wait times are ridiculous. I have waited at minimum 1 hour each time I have gone, this past appointment I did not see the doctor for 1.5 hours past my scheduled time. Do not waste your time here.

Long wait times each visit, even with nobody else in the waiting room. The assistant who took my blood missed and had to go fishing around for my veins. Staff not very friendly or at all accommodating of insurance, even though they were in network with my provider.
