Office Visit
I saw Dr. Abay to determine the need for a colonoscopy. Dr. Abay listened to every word I said about my medical history, asked pertinent questions and recommended a colonoscopy. I was and am extremely satisfied with his recommendation and with the steps I should take in the meantime to insure better health. I have seen Dr. Abay several times over the years and when following his guidelines, have always experienced improved health. He is compassionate, realistic, and extremely knowledgeable!

Dr. Abay was very thorough in his consultation with my husband. I would have liked him to direct more of his conversation to my husband, who was the patient. He referred him for procedures to be sure to cover all the bases of his health and quality care, which I appreciate. This is the first time we had met Dr. Abay so he was not very informed of my husbands past medical history and did ask questions so he could be as informed as possible. He had a professional demeanor. He was on the quiet more reserved side, but friendly. Based on the initial visit I think Dr. Abay is probably a good choice for gastrologic care.

Beyond Expectations
Dr. Abay has treated me for esophageal issues for nearly ten years, but my favorite memory is about the time I wanted to watch my colonoscopy in progress. He explained the potential for problems but agreed to let me watch and then explained every step of the procedure. I got to see my colon and simultaneously observed that he and his team are highly skilled and complexly professional in their behavior. Thanks, Dr. Abay!

I like Dr. Abay very much! He was very thorough and spent a lot of time with me. Dr. Abay is extremely knowledgeable and really wants to figure out what's going on with my abdominal problem. I would surely recommend him to a close friend or family member.

When I was first diagnosed with my illness, I had to jump through hoops to get the medication to cure it. Dr Abay sent me to New Haven hospital over a dozen times, to go through a barrage of tests, most of which he had already had done. When asked by the doctor at Yale/NH hospital why my gastroenterologist had sent me, and I told him, he got really angry, and offered to write me a prescription there and then. That was years ago. Now, trying to call for an appointment with Dr Abay is basically impossible. No one in the office answers the phone... ever. Instead, you're routed to the automatic system's message line, where you get to play phone tag with the office. Unfortunately, Norwich GI seems to be the only available service of its kind in the Norwich area, so options are few.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Abay?
Dr. Abay came into the exam room in a very gruff and impatient manner and he never asked me anything about why my doctor sent me to him. He did however grill me and imply that I was there seeking pain medicine for the simple reason that I had to have 5 mg of pain medicine after open heart surgery over a year earlier. His prejudice of me was humiliating and unprofessional. I got confused by his questions, but tried to focus on the MRI my doctor sent him about the lesion and sickness. Instead of answering he started packing up to leave and said out could be cancer and if there is pain it's probably a pulled muscle. I was shocked and scared, but couldn't ask any questions since he had run out of the room. My husband was there in the room throughout the appointment. He had been hoping, like me, that this guy would alleviate his worry. Instead of alleviating our concern, Abay angered my husband and confused to heck out of me. I called the CTGI about his treatment and never got apology
