Excellent physician!
Dr Gerds is excellent! He takes his time & listens & explains things in a way you can understand, without talking down to you. He has been taking care of my mother-in-law for several years, and he has called me personally to answer some questions. Very rare to find a physician who makes his own calls! Our family respects & trusts him & wouldn't hesitate to refer someone to him.

I traveled to see Dr. Gerds because he is said to be the best specialist in the area for what I was diagnosed with. Unfortunately, he was uninterested in providing me with any answers, concern or symptomatic relief. He only wanted to prove my previous diagnosis wrong. He asked an answered his own questions about my symptoms. I travel 90 minutes to listen to him tell me where my abdomen hurt. He talked down to me and over explained simple things. What caused me to leave him and Cleveland Clinic all together was that he was going to repeat tests and send me to specialist I had already done and seen within the last year. I’m not a science experiment or a $$$ grab. I’m a patient who was in need of care. I don’t think a diagnosis and treatment plan are too much to ask for. Im sure my insurance company would agree. Never in my life have I been treated as callously as I was by Dr. Gerds.

I saw Dr. Gerds after being diagnosed with Essential Thrombocythemia. He he was very friendly, explained things in a way I could understand, and took his time in doing so. He answered all of my questions as well. This is clearly a doctor who is at the top of his game, as he cited current research being done with my condition (I also believe he is leading this research). I highly recommend Dr. Gerds!

Dr. Gerds is extremely knowledgeable, accessible, and caring. I am seeing him for treatment of Primary Myelofibrosis. Not only is Dr. Gerds an expert in his field, but he is down to earth. He has, with little notice, made time for me on Christmas Eve. He truly cares about his patients: I've never met another doctor who is so strongly committed to the patient's entire well-being and quality of life as well as treating the specific cancer. I'm truly blessed to call Dr. Gerds my hematologist.
