I saw both Karen and Ken and had incredibly negative experiences with both of them. Karen couldn’t be bothered to remember my name, which is a preferred name and is important to me. She talked over and interrupted me during sessions with advice that was so unhelpful that it made me think she was not even listening. I saw Ken for concerns about anxiety as a result of my line of work, where I deal with death and crime daily. He was racially insensitive, dismissive, and crass. He told me that the likelihood of me experiencing a fear of mine was “as likely as a nine year old getting breast cancer.” He then told me “try not to think about it so much,” suggested that I am bringing the anxiety upon myself, and reduced everything I said down to his own made-up statistics. I’m grateful that the office manager reached out to me after I filed a complaint, but both experiences were so jarring for me (and such a waste of money) that I cannot recommend Harmony Mental Health Counseling.
