Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital

If you or your loved one needs intensive speech, this is not the place for you. We were directed here after my spouse had a stroke for rehab. Said would get 3 hours therapy a day-speech, OT, & PT. Led to believe it would be an hour of each. Turns out the 3 hours are mostly PT & OT. Averaged 20 minutes a day with speech which was known as his greatest need while still in the hospital. No services the day we arrived. No services on one weekend day. Because he was soon able to move about without a wheelchair or walker, (which he was starting to do in the hospital), he was discharged. Too high functioning for PT. Never mind that his greatest need is speech and language and also still needs OT. They say it's because they are a hospital, but we were sent there for rehab. So he was there for a total of 7 days (if you count the half day of arrival and the half day of discharge). Received therapy for 5 of those days. This place may be great for intensive PT and OT but not speech.
