His residency program in internal medicine was at the University of North Dakota in Fargo, North Dakota and ISSTE Hospital in Chihuahua, Mexico. His fellowship in Critical Care Medicine was at Presbyterian University Hospital, University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His social service included clinics and hospitals. He has had several grants and publications. His honors include Chief of Medicine at Providence Memorial Hospital, in El Paso, Texas 2001. His other professional certifications are ECFMG 1982; FLEX Exam 1983, ATLS 1988, ACLS 1989.
