He has been on staff at Medical City since 1974 and was the Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab from 1980 - 2009. Dr. Schwade has served on a number of committees at Medical City Dallas Hospital during his career and he has been the Director of Cardiology at the hospital since 1980. Dr. Schwade attended Rice University in Houston, Texas receiving his undergraduate degree in 1962. Upon graduation from the UT Southwestern Medical School with his medical degree in 1966, Dr. Schwade went on to complete his medical residency (1970-1972) and his fellowship (1972-1974) at Dallas Veterans Administration Hospital. His Cardiovascular Research fellowship was completed at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1974. Dr. Rajeev Joshi joined North Texas Heart Center in August 2013. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his fellowships in Cardiovascular Diseases and Advanced Cardiac Imaging at St. Luke's - Roosevelt Hospital in New York as part of the Columbia University System. His Advanced Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology training was completed at the University of California in San Diego. Dr. Joshi is proficient in all aspects of Electrophysiology including atrial fibrillation ablation, atrial flutter and PSVT ablation, and ventricular tachycardia ablation. In addition he implants pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices, as well as, performs laser lead extraction. Dr. Darryl Kawalsky is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases. He joined North Texas Heart Center in 1992 after completing his Cardiology Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. Dr. Kawalsky practices general cardiology with expertise in multiple diagnostic methods including echocardiography, nuclear imaging and diagnostic cardiac catheterization. His primary interest is in coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease and generalized vascular disease. He is very involved in medical education and active in clinical research. He served as assistant editor of the American Journal of Cardiology until 2002 and has been a recipient of the "Robert North Teacher of the Year Award".
