Samantha Wiegand, MD, grew up as a child of the Air Force traveling across the United States and Japan. Her family eventually settled in Dayton where she graduated from Beavercreek High School. She attended The Ohio State University for her undergraduate degree, followed by Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine on an Air Force scholarship. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine/Wright Patterson Medical Center. Dr. Wiegand served as an officer within the Air Force in both Ohio and Virginia before completing a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. During her time in the Air Force, Dr. Wiegand taught residents, served as the medical student clerkship director at Wright-Patterson Medical Center, and was the Deputy Medical Director at Langley Hospital's Women's Clinic. While at UNC Chapel Hill, Dr. Wiegand completed several research projects in the areas of ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, and substance use disorders in pregnancy.
