Oksana Lekarev, DO is the Associate Medical Director of the Comprehensive Care Center for Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) at Weill Cornell Medicine, the first multi-disciplinary center of excellence in the United States dedicated to patients with CAH. She is also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine and Assistant Attending Pediatrician at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Lekarev is board certified in Pediatric Endocrinology and Pediatrics. Dr. Lekarev received a BA in Linguistics from Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City, graduating cum laude and with departmental honors. She received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry - School of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Internship in Pediatrics at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center and went on to complete her Residency in Pediatrics at Tufts-New England Medical Center. Dr. Lekarev then moved back to New York City where she completed a fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. She remained at Mount Sinai for two more years as a faculty member in the Division of Adrenal Steroid Disorders, where she was actively involved in research, clinical practice and medical education. In addition to her expertise in CAH and adrenal steroid disorders, Dr. Lekarev's areas of interest include disorders of growth, disorders of pubertal and sexual development, and thyroid disease. She has published a number of original and review articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at national and international meetings.

I care for children and adolescents who are born with or acquire heart disease, as well as pregnant mothers carrying fetuses who are suspected to have heart disease. My focus is diagnosing heart conditions by interpreting images of the heart, either by ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), prenatally and through adolescence. I was drawn to pediatric cardiology early in my training, when I had the opportunity to care for children with heart disease. I quickly grew passionate about caring for these children and learning to manage the complex varieties of heart conditions. I feel a strong responsibility for keeping kids safe and as healthy as they can be. What I like most about my job is working closely with my patients and their families. It is especially rewarding, as a fetal cardiologist, to meet the parents of my patients before they are born, and to build a strong collaboration that continues after birth and through childhood.In addition, I love to teach students and pediatricians-in-training so that they can gain the knowledge and experience they need to care for their patients. I also take part in research that focuses on assessing outcomes in children with different types of heart disease so that we can improve the quality and safety of care that our team provides. I am fortunate to be part of such an exceptional group at Columbia where our team of heart specialists, in partnership with our colleagues in other pediatric specialties, works tirelessly and compassionately to deliver the best care to our patients.

Michael Espiritu, MD is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Division of Newborn Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and Assistant Attending Pediatrician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College and the NYP Phyllis and David Komansky Children's Hospital. He is board certified in Pediatrics and in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.Dr. Epspiritu completed his undergraduate degree at Harvard University where he received a Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) in Psychology. He earned his medical degree (M.D.) from Weill Cornell Medical College, and went on to complete his residency in Pediatrics and a fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Following fellowship training,Dr. Espirituserved as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at NYU School of Medicine, where he also served as Associate Program Director of the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship, and Attending Neonatologist at NYU Langone Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital Center.His academic interests include neonatal global health, physician bias in counseling at extreme prematurity, and disaster preparedness in the NICU.

Jeffrey Kern is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the Weill Cornell campus of the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He is a assistant attending physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital as well.Dr. Kern performs a variety of non-invasive tests, including exercise stress tests, tilt-table tests, stress electrocardiography, holter monitoring and echocardiography. He sees patients at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital & NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Queens in Flushing.Dr. Kern completed his undergraduate degree at Yeshiva University and his medical degree at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine. After completing a residency in General Pediatrics at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, Dr. Kern completed further training in pediatric cardiology at the Babies and Children's Hospital of Columbia Presbyterian where he completed a fellowship.In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kern has published extensively on a variety of topics, including early results and developmental outcomes after surgical repair of hypoplastic left heart syndrome, arrhythmias and their management in the setting of congenital heart disease, and fetal echocardiography and its impact on modern pediatric cardiology.
