Most of my patients have heritable forms of heart disease such as Marfan syndrome, familial aortic aneurysm, and bicuspid aortic valve with associated aortic aneurysm. As such, despite being a subspecialist, I have had the opportunity to serve as a 'family doctor' and to care for multiple generations within families over many years. I feel very fortunate to have a clinical practice of relatively young, highly-informed, and motivated individuals with diseases for which there are now life-prolonging therapies.

I came to Cornell University Medical College In 1980 to start my Cardiology Fellowship training. There are many reasons I feel fortunate to have been able to continue at Weill Cornell Medical College. It has given me the opportunity to interact with an exceptional group of physicians, nurse practioners, and nurses in both cardiology and cardic surgery in a hospital which is equally well staffed in all other specialties. It has allowed me to do research in the area of regurgitant heart valve disease and to teach at many levels. Most of all it has made it possible for me to be part of a team capable of the highest level of care for any patient with cardiac disease. My highest recommendation is that , at my suggestion, many of my family and friends have come here for advanced care and I could not be more pleased with the results.

Cardiac Electrophysiology is exciting because the therapies can dramatically improve our patients' lives. I look forward to coming to work every day so that I can help deliver this cutting-edge treatment. At the same time, the most rewarding part of my job is the opportunity to guide each patient through their condition in an understandable way so that she/he can actively participate in our treatment plan. My belief is to treat each patient with clarity, care, and compassion - the same way that I would want my family to be treated.
