I chose to become a doctor and specialize in internal medicine because I enjoy the investigative nature of the specialty and figuring out the best ways to help my patients. I also appreciate the opportunity it provides to develop long-term relationships with my patients. I enjoy seeing people from many different cultures and helping them navigate the health system. My ability to speak Spanish is a comfort to many of my patients who appreciate being able to communicate in their native language. I have special interests in travel medicine and caring for those with diabetes.

I have special interests in social determinants of health, chronic pain, global health, end of life care and endocrinology. I have been a lecturer in endocrinology for the Physician Assistant Program at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, where I was also an assistant professor in family and preventive medicine. My greatest and most satisfying experiences in medicine have come from living in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for over five years, practicing medicine and teaching in a free general hospital for the poor. I am very interested in advancing understanding and commitment to the practice of international medicine. I am certified in palliative care and hospice medicine, and hold a certificate in travel medicine.

My passion for medicine started when I was a child and continues to this day. I enjoy taking care of a diverse, multicultural patient population. I like to focus on preventive care, chronic disease management and women's health. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my children, cooking and reading. I am member of the American College of Physicians (ACP).
