I am a fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in the surgical treatment of knee and shoulder disorders. My clinical interests include rotator cuff tears, shoulder arthritis, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears, and meniscus tears. My goal as an orthopedic surgeon is to return patients back to their pre-injury levels and doing the things that they enjoy doing most. I take a patient-first approach to understand the problem, patient goals, and use a shared-decision making model to develop an appropriate treatment plan.

I am an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement, as well as surgical fixation of bone fractures. I am committed to providing compassionate care to my patients based on sound medical knowledge, good clinical judgment and experience. I am an orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in hip and knee replacement. Patients with osteoarthritis, or any type of arthritis, may benefit from replacement surgery. I also offer partial knee replacement which can be an excellent option for patients with severe arthritis in just one part of their knee. I chose this specialty because so many patients say, "I feel like I got my life back," after having surgery; there is nothing more thrilling than hearing that. When treating hip and knee arthritis, I think it is critical to exhaust all nonoperative treatments, and then to work with each patient to decide when it's the right time for them to have surgery. After surgery, I want to help patients get through recovery and rehabilitation as quickly as possible so they can get back to the activities they enjoy.

As an orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine, I provide complete care of shoulder, hip and knee conditions. Over the past 20 years, I have cared for athletes at all levels high school, collegiate and professional. I have also spent many hours on the sidelines providing medical coverage. My favorite conditions to treat are hip arthritis using a minimally invasive direct anterior approach to hip replacement, ACL and meniscus injuries, arthritis of the knee and rotator cuff tears. My goal is to eliminate pain and restore function to allow my patients to live their lives to the fullest.

I joined HealthPartners in 2012 following a sports medicine fellowship at Wake Forest University and an orthopedic residency at the University of Minnesota. My special interests include shoulder, knee, and hip arthroscopy. I enjoy basketball and was the Slam Dunk Champion at Princeton University in 2000 while an undergraduate.
