Richard Rodgers, LCSW
This provider has no reviewsCounselingPO Box 999Aurora, IL 6050753 miles awayBiographyAbout Me: I'm Rick, an Afghanistan veteran whose journey into mental health began upon returning from service with the Army National Guard. Witnessing friends struggle with substance abuse, depression, and PTSD inspired me to dedicate my career to supporting veterans and others navigating tough times. Education and Experience: Holding a Bachelor's in Community Health, I pursued my passion further by obtaining a Master of Social Work (MSW) and becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a process that took five dedicated years. I've been working in the mental health and addiction field for about 10 years, starting in the military and moving through both inpatient and outpatient settings. My specialization is in addiction, but I have extensive experience with depression, anxiety, and trauma. I am also a Certified Trauma Therapy Professional. Treatment Approach: My approach is deeply personal and holistic, combining talk therapy with techniques like EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and iRest Yoga Nidra. I tailor my methods to meet your unique needs, whether you're dealing with addiction, PTSD, or the aftermath of abuse. I aim to listen, understand your perspective, and collaboratively develop a plan for positive change. My focus is on empowerment, helping you navigate your past to build a stronger, more resilient future. How I Can Help: I understand that everyone's journey is different; some seek support, while others look for structured therapy. I'm here to provide what you need, from someone to talk to, to giving encouragement, or formal therapeutic interventions. My goal is to be a positive influence, helping you through whatever challenges you face, whether they're related to relationships, career, or other life issues, including working with individuals with criminal backgrounds. Personal Life: In my free time, I cherish moments with my family and pets, and I enjoy attending sporting events and concerts. This balance outside of work keeps me grounded, ensuring I bring a compassionate, empathetic approach to my practice. I'm committed to meeting you where you are on your journey, offering a space where healing, growth, and positive change are not just possible but achievable.

This provider has no reviewsCounselingPO Box 999Aurora, IL 6050753 miles awayBiographyI have always been an intuitive, empathic, and inquisitive human and as corny as it may sound, helping to bring "world peace" has always been a consistent life goal of mine. However, from as early as I can remember, I was always held back in my personal and professional journeys because of the multitude of thoughts and panic feelings circling throughout my head and body. My personal struggles with anxiety and depression, brought me into confronting my own demons with the help of professionals, and through that process I realized that my talents and passions aligned with helping others work though their own internal strugglesmy tiny, humble contribution to bringing that world peace, I so hope and wish to provide. I realized early on that a) there is no right way to be, b) and all humans are wildly perfect for every flaw, and imperfection society may throw at us. I believe in the simple truths of respect for one another, and believe in the value of human connection, regardless of any background. After graduating college and leaving the beautiful cocoon that is Boulder, CO, I found myself in a "quarter life crisis," type place. I felt stuck, but ready for my next move. My passion for "bringing world peace" was still a constant thought in the back of my head. My work and passion for the homeless and individuals afflicted with addiction/severe mental illness brought me to New Delhi, India to work side by side with street children. While there, I learned to incorporate natural empathy, non-verbal communication and holistic spirituality to help nurture and teach these children daily life skills, while also building their self esteem. The trip was quite possibly the most eye opening experience of my life, and it taught me the power of trusting myself through the vulnerable experiences that life constantly throw at us. In 2012, after this life-changing journey in India, I found myself on a new journey, in Chicago, IL with the same passions for helping those who desperately needed a voice, or an advocate. In 2013, I started my Masters degree training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adler University, and found that social justice for all would be an underlying driving force for me throughout my career. I have experience working in Drug/Alcohol Rehabilitation centers, individual and group counseling on the West Side of Chicago with homeless clients, severe mental illness, and couples and family therapy. Upon graduating with my Masters degree in 2015, I started administering Neurofeedback, as well as counseling services in a private practice in the suburbs of Chicago, IL. I have strong experience working with all age groups (6-75 yo), with a specialty in adolescence and young adulthood. I currently work closely with all age groups, and all degrees of mental illness, with a specialty in depression, anxiety, and panic disorder. I also have experience working with the LGBTQ community and have worked closely with starting a LGBTQ services website in the Chicago land area. I counsel from an integrative background, instilling Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, Existential ideals as well as humanistic validation throughout my sessions. I believe in establishing rapport through a combination of professional boundaries and establishing a learning journey together. I tend to incorporate humor, and self-disclosure of my own journey into my sessions as well. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, and I look forward to tackling life's challenges together.

This provider has no reviewsAddiction and Substance Abuse Counseling999 N Rockford Ave # IlRockford, IL 611071.2 miles awayBiographyI am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois with over 20 years of experience working with children in school settings, adolescents with chemical dependency, and adults with chronic and severe mental illness. Most of my clinical experience has been spent helping adults with serious mental illness cope with their symptoms more effectively. I have worked with adults experiencing a wide variety of symptoms, including those associated with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder. I believe that each person is an expert on his/her own feelings, but behavior patterns are not always as obvious to the person engaging in them. I use an empathic, yet "no-nonsense" approach and help you to take accountability for your decisions and actions. I will work hard with you to find and change unhelpful behaviors, but I will not work harder than you. You hold the power and control to your own life; I will be here as a guide to help you get your momentum going in a more helpful direction. My clinical approach typically includes cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, or a combination of them. Above all, I want to ensure you feel comfortable with me because the process of making change is not always comfortable itself. I know that there is never an issue too small for which to seek help, and if you give yourself a chance and stick with it, you may be surprised how much better you can feel.
