While at Vanderbilt, he participated in the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps and received an academic scholarship. He graduated cum laude from the Vanderbilt School of Arts and Sciences with a double major of Chemistry and Molecular Biology. After graduation, Dr. Woodworth was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in the United States Army Medical Service Corps. He deferred his military duty so he could attend medical school at St. Louis University School of Medicine followed by a general surgery residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine Wichita. During his career, Dr. Woodworth has partnered with the medical industry to facilitate the development, application, and advocation of medical technologies and procedures. He is comfortable being in the forefront of providing the most up-to-date medical care available. Dr. Baer is a native of Colorado. He attended Cherry Creek High School and graduated at the top of his class. He went on to attend Harvard University and received his degree in Biology, with honors. While at Harvard, he was awarded the Harvard Scholarship for three consecutive years while maintaining a job and being a four-year varsity athlete. He graduated with honors from the University of Colorado Health Science Center. Dr. Baer completed his surgery residency at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. While completing this 5 year program, he was also a flight physician for MedFlight, a helicopter rescue/transport service. Following his residency program, he completed a fellowship at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, in Gloucester, England. Upon completion of this program, Dr. Baer returned home and has been practicing general surgery in South Denver since 1992. Dr. Baer's professional interests include, gastrointestinal surgery, cancer surgery, breast surgery, hernia surgery, and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He has special interests in endocrine surgery including minimally invasive thyroid and parathyroid surgery as well as laparoscopic adrenalectomy. Dr. Baer was the Porter Adventist Hospital Chairman of the Surgery Department for 5 years and President-elect for 3 years.
