Dr. Thanh Mai, DMD

My son is 25 yrs old, severely autistic, non-verbal and suffers from many teeth broken down to the gum. I have traveled many miles and seen many, many dentists that turned my son away because he is autistic and gets anxious. A few years ago, Dr Mai's office was the only one that tried the most and went as far as having him in the chair to get his procedure done. My son saw the needle and would not let the nurse put it in his arm. I begged the Dr to use gas, the Dr allowed the nurse to try but they only had a clown nose for children and my son refused. The nose was strange and they weren't willing to try with a full mask at a later date. Fast forward to present and I made another appointment with Dr Mai's office out of desperation and hope. This time was an immediate disappointment, there was no help. My son didn't want to sit in the room and wait for the Dr. Dr didn't want to do the evaluation with my son in the car, where he wasn't anxious. No dentist will help us, so my son suffers.

Dr. Mai has no respect for patients he doesn’t think it’s necessary to talk to his patients. I asked him why he was choosing to start one root canal over the other and basically said because. You always wait minimum of 30 minutes. Staff is horrible. I was called hun and when I said I don’t want to be called hun I was hung up on. I called back and asked to speak with office manager, she never called me. I kept calling and finally reached her after 10 days, her response the issues has been dealt with . No apology nothing. Bad business all around!

I first want to say, the hygienists and staff are wonderful and do a fantastic job. Unfortunately I will be leaving because of Dr. Mai and his “office policy.” I had a visit, not too long ago, that was supposed to take roughly an hour. The visit ended up taking over 5 hours, causing me to miss important work meetings that I had scheduled. 5 hours of minimal communication. I was very lenient and understanding of Dr. Mai’s situation and did not make a big deal of it. Fast forward to today, I have been having issues with a permanent crown that Dr. Mai had worked on and the crown actually popped off 2 days ago. I scheduled an appointment to have the crown re-cemented, which was this morning. Dr. Mai charged me for this because I was 20 days past their 1 year warranty. I was lenient and understanding with him and his situation that caused me to miss my appointments. How did he treat me in return? With zero understanding, saying, “it’s office policy.” Moving our business to another dentist.

Awful overall. Rushed with questions unanswered,tension in office. Price gouging by pushing about things needed. Rudeness at desk. I would never let them do any of the work,never!

My experience was the best I have ever had with any dentist. The staff were all a rating of 10. Monica was a follow through employee. Christiana was so informative. The employees would come into my room do a task and walked out and the next one came in and did what they needed to do. A very smoothly operated practice. Dr. Mai was very gently, precise and thorough at his job. He treated his staff with such respect and forgave any minor thing that an employee might have done. At my first visit they did an extensive exam and the office staff showed me the cost and everything that would need to be done. Then if I asked if there was a payment plan they told me about Carrington Insurance Discount 500 Series which helped the cost immensely. They shared a way where I could pay the bill off in a year without interest. In my book I rate Dr. Mai and his staff a 10+! I would highly recommend Dr.Mai!

The new dentures they made for me never fit. Every time I asked for an adjustment I had to wait a week or so and after several adjustments I finally gave up as I couldn't eat with them and couldn't wear them.

My new dentures are terrible...poor fitting ...i have last 25 lbs. Since we started because i can not eat.

Clean And professional

I had my teeth cleaned yesterday by Rhonda. It was the only time I have ever learned so much about my teeth and gums. She explained everything she was going to do before she did it and why. I have never had such a great cleaning experience before. I will always ask for her when I get my teeth cleaned. She was very patient with me and also has a great sense of humor. If you need your teeth cleaned I highly recommend her.

Beware getting dentures by Dr Mai, since we're talking thousands of $$'s. Got almost $5,000 and almost $900 from my insurance, then next to impossible to get apt. Tue./Thurs. after surgery was in extreme pain and burning on roof of mouth. "Don't worry, common, you have to adjust". Friday pain unbearable went to another dentist (couldn't get apt.) was told me my gums were ulcerated and I had thrush on roof of mouth causing the burning. Refused to continue work because NO ONE CALLS INS ON HIM

I am impressed with Dr. Mai and his staff. Very professional, kind, caring people and they strive for excellence in dentistry and care for the patient. I would recommend his practice to others. Well served, Linda Clark

Amazing staff and amazing Dentist!! I’ve always been afraid to go to the dentist, this visit was no different going in. However, his staff was amazing and was able to calm me down. When Dr. Mai walked into the room to explain the results of my exam, he was thorough when explaining what I was looking at, made sure I understood what needed to be done and what was most important to be done right away. After this visit, you have a patient for life. He made me feel at ease and comfortable! Thank You!

Like a lot of people, I have always hated going to the dentist! I'm a new patient to Dr. Mai's practice and I have to say that my experience with his office has been wonderful. From my initial evaluation, to the completion of my dental work has been nothing short of amazing! His staff is very friendly and helpful. Dr. Mai and his staff are very professional. He takes the time to explain your condition and answer any questions you have. I have a fear of dentists from my childhood from getting fillings without any local pain killers. Dr. Mai takes every measure to ensure your experience is pain free and asks regularly during the procedure if everything is OK. Thank you Dr. Mai!

Said I was unfriendly to staff, have fibromyalgia/ several immune diseases. Even in pain was more than friendly to staff only 2or3 times I saw dr . He was aware of my condition. Assist. asked a question, mouth open, tried to answer, told to keep quiet. Requested not to be seen by her again. Second time, the day dr. mai threatened to call the police BECAUSE I SAID RING ON PARTIAL was too tight, his assist. put dentures in her pocket and wouldn't give them back. Never raised my voice once

Great place! Been a patient for 3 years. Came to them after a botched job by Aspen Dental. Dr. Mai did a great job. Pain free with no problems.
