Dr. Sean Avera, DDS

Just wish that I would of went to him first of all... I have had alot of problems with my Implant, that he said that he would of did it another way. Because I grind my teeth and the location of the Implant, maybe would of done another option. So I was recommended to him for the broken screw in my bone, I had to have it surgically removed. Second reasons for sending this was to let everyone that wants to use him, he does great work and I like his office, just concerned about his communication skills. Don't question him at all or the office! They need to understand that it is OUR body and we have the right to know and understand what is taking place. Time have passed between exams and visits and I didn't remember the conversation exactly... also was sedated when some of the info was given. Third and foremost, ASK for the doctors notes, because they will not give them unless you ask! If you totally understand

I was so upset by Dr. Avera in my first appointment with him. He found so many supposed problems with my teeth and gums, and even mentioned to be aware of cancer and told me about another patient dying recently — all while I was in the chair. Because I was upset, he offered me nitrous oxide to calm me down, which I refused. Then I received an aggressive written prognosis on my teeth ($10, 000 plus). I was even told I had a loose tooth that needed to be pulled. I had my long-term dentist check, and he said my tooth was fine. I cancelled the follow-up appointment with Dr. Avera's office via email two days before the appointment, and then late the office billed me for missing that follow-up appointment. This dentist is not trust worthy. Beware.

The best periodontist. Dr. Avera has done 4 implants on me & I haven't had any problems. The first one was done 18 years ago. Everyone on his staff is very friendly & professional. I highly recommend Dr. Avera

I had a visit to clean my implants. The hygienist was careful, thoughtful and very thorough. I am not an easy patient and this went exceptionally well. I have never had a bad experience in this office, from the doctor to the staff.

Wonderful staff, Arrogant Doctor. I was told by Avera that his hygienists would do a better job on my and my husbands cleanings and moved to his practice for cleanings as well, After 3 yrs one of my teeth that previously was fine ALL THE SUDDEN needed to be removed due to decay? I was quoted $7,000. When I questioned how that could have happened being HIS hygienists were supposed to be the best he said, I have since let that one go. I declined his $7,000 fix and went to my dentist and have never needed the tooth replaced and found it to not be a problem tooth after all. Hummmmm. Its good to follow your instinct!

Many years ago I had oral surgery which was a very painful experience. In 2020 and now in 2021 Dr. Avera performed gum surgery for me. I had 2 areas repaired along with tissue taken from the roof of my mouth and I had NO pain. Seriously, the surgery along with the recovery was painless. I must attribute this to an excellent, thoughtful and experienced oral surgeon. Nicely done Dr. Avera and staff.

Today I had an extraction of a failed implant and a bone graft. I have had several procedures over the years in Dr. Avera's office and I also go there for regular teeth cleanings. I am always very impressed with the professionalism of this office. Prior to any procedure, the patient receives detailed instructions as to how to prepare for the surgery and what to do and not do afterwards. I have complete confidence in Dr. Avera, his knowledge and skill. Everyone in his office is equally capable, friendly and professional. The same faces are there year after year, so clearly the staff is treated well. Anita, Dan, Nicole, Becca, Cathy and Andria have all been wonderful to deal with. I can highly recommend Dr. Avera and his staff for any periodontal procedure. Dr. Avera evens makes post-surgery phone calls to check in on patients the night of a procedure. This is an office that cares about its patients!

I have been a patient of Dr. Avera and his staff for almost 20 years. Although I moved 32 miles from his office, I have made the trip at least every 3 months for routine and other services. I cannot praise them enough for the outstanding medical and personal treatment I have received there. I would highly recommend putting your needs in their capable hands!

Everyone knows that this practice is filled with 5 star staff members. Dr. Avera and Cathy A., lead by example and adhere to best and highest practices regarding patient care. But this particular 5 star review is for Dan Avera. Dan is an integral part of this practice and it is noted, by his sincere attention to details. I’ve had to coincide, sensitive team meetings with the principal dentist in my case, including Avera’s team. Yes, all dentist were there to manage my case (after hours)! And so was Dan, there repairing my prosthetic, going well above and beyond, again. Thank you Dan, I appreciate you.

Dr Avera and his staff are unbelievable. I have been a patient of Dr Avera's since 2005 when I first arrived and I cannot imagine going anywhere else. He will exceed your expectations in every way.

Dr. Avera and his staff provided customer service that was outstanding and very much appreciated at a stressful time. Everything was carefully explained and done with attention to detail. So unlike most medical office environments.

I recently saw Dr. Avera for gum surgery. I would highly recommend him. He and his staff were caring and compassionate and very helpful!

I have been a patient of Dr. Avera since July 2010 and he is one of the best periodontists in the greater Placer County area-ever! He referred me to my orthodontist, as well as correct several periodontal issues I have had over the last 10 years. Today (5/1/19) I had my final appointment with his office (as I am moving out of state in 3 months) and within hours of my appointment I already have a referral in hand for a new periodontist in my new state! I will miss him, my technician, Carrie (she has seen me through a lot of life recently), Becca and ALL of his staff! Hands down one of the most professional offices I have dealt with in years! Dr Avera and staff were amazing. Great bedside manner good sense of humor he's definitely a keeper!!

I have been a patient of Dr. Avera's and his staff since 1991. I have had several successful oral surgical procedures performed by Dr. Avera and I am very happy with his excellent work. I also have a standing every three month cleaning by his extremely competent dental hygienists. A special compliment for one of Dr. Avera's newest hygienist, Jordon, who continues to do an outstanding job.

Dr. Avera and his staff are great. I am having an implant and have had no pain/nausea. They are on time, always pleasant and friendly. Both offices are clean and attractive. The auburn office has a film of the family's travels. Dr. A. and staff explain everything and were most helpful when there was an insurance glitch.

I have had excellent experiences/appointments with Dr. Avera, his wife, and his staff. They are not just good at what they do, but are loving and compassionate as well.

I recommend Doctor Avera because I have been treated by him, and he is a great doctor! I had to get a tooth extraction, and I was a bit afraid. But he doctor and his son, who works with him were great, very nice and understanding. I could not believe when they said I was done! I did not feel anything.... no pain!!! and its now 3 days later and still no pain...

Dr Avera was wonderful... first, taking the time and spending the energy, along with his lovely staff, to accommodate my emergency, first, in terms of scheduling appointments last minute. Second, in generously, gently, attentively, and thoroughly treating my teeth and gums. Betty scaled my teeth with great precision and skill. I left the Auburn area with glistening teeth, reinvigorated gums and well-attended-to bone. They're the best!!!
