Anesthesia awareness
I became aware during wisdom teeth removal. I felt my mouth clamped open & afterwards felt like my lower jaw was fractured right in the center. He damaged nerves in my lower lip and chin, bad enough id chew my own lip & wouldn't realize until I tasted blood. When I went for follow up appointments, he'd poke my gums with a toothpick & I'd feel the pressure and pop of it penetrating my gum. Then he'd ask if I felt it & I'd say not the pain, but I felt the pressure. He'd make a note & respond 'ok, well it looks like you have 75% feeling back now', when I had zero. I remember when I was aware, they carried me to the X-ray machine & didn't put the protective lead vest on me to protect my chest.. I'm guessing cause they were trying to hurry & thought I was out. I still can't shave my chin with a razor all these years later due to a mix of hypersensitivity and numbness. I should've sued the crap out of this office. Especially due to the lying about my feeling coming back. Never again. Beware

Straight-forward care
On 10/11, I had an appointment with Dr. Scott Tate to examine a lesion on on my lower gums. He inspected it and explained that I had to have a biopsy to be sent off & have the results in a week. He also explained the several different things that it could be but will not know for sure until the results come back. It was fast paced but I received all the information I needed. The biopsy itself had to be scheduled two days later, as my insurance would not cover a biopsy the same day as consultation. On 10/13, the actual biopsy was painless & took about 15 minutes. Later that day, Dr. Tate gave me a call to check on my pain level & if I had any questions. I received thorough & excellent care.

If you do not trust this guy, you are missing out on a great surgeon. This guy knows what could happen in most possibilities step by step. He keeps you well informed. He may be a little quick talking but its because he knows the likelihood of what will happen next. He wants to make things safe and secure for the patient. I also think he does better with adults then he does with adolescents, because of not having as much drama so he can do his job and and do well for the business he owns.
