I went to a dentist who insisted I needed some very expensive, high tech work done on my gums/teeth with a laser. I went to Dr. Imanaka for a second opinion. Dr. Imanaka advised me that I could use the expensive solution, however my habits were poor. I did not like his advice, but it sounded reasonable. So I scheduled 90 day visits with Dr. imanaka, and followed his simple advice (advice my grandmother gave me ironically), after 9 months, my mouth was health again. After 2 years, still good!
