Went for an initial visit and he kinda scraped around my teeth (no dental assistant) but nothing thorough (I hadn't been to a dentist for years, there was certainly a lot of buildup that needed scraping). Dental tools weren't laid out on a tray at my side like I'm used to seeing, they were in random cups like I keep my toothbrush at home. He never mentioned the obvious cavity I have so I mentioned it at the end of the appointment and he went back and scraped at it with a tool and said "oh yeah, you should probably book an appointment and come back and get that filled." I never went back. It didn't seem sanitary and the cavity was so obvious, I don't know how he didn't address it until I brought it up.
