Great Experience!
Loved Dr Mickens. He got to the bottom of an issue I was having with a crown. A problem with pain in the tooth that I’d been dealing with for over two years that no one could figure out. Really enjoyed him and his staff. Thanks to everyone over there.

Great experience
This was my first visit to see Dr. Mickens for a root canal. He and his staff made the experience really pleasant. Dr Mickens was very professional, courteous and did the procedure with no pain during the process or after. I would be happy to recommend him to anyone needing this type of dental work!

Rude man, no compassion
My daughter had a root canal. This man is egotistic and rude, he has no compassion for his patients. When my daughter needed more numbing medicine because the drilling hurt he threw a little hissy fit. Bragged on himself the whole time and showed no empathy for her experience. He thinks he can treat people however he wants because he's the only oral surgeon that accepts Medicaid in the area. If you have another choice, don't go here.

I really wish i could get a zero star. I went to Mickens for a root canal treatment, a couple of weeks later i had intense pain at the site at which the root canal was performed. I went back to him to see what was wrong and he basically told me nothing was wrong and sent me home.. The pain never left and i made two more visits with him telling me the same thing. My dentist finally told me the root canal was performed poorly and an abscess had developed on the tooth, Due to Dr. Mickens negligence and unprofessionalism the root canal failed with my whole tooth falling out with the post still attached to it. I went back to Mickens and he had an attitude with me telling me that my dentist does not know what she is talking about because there is no abscess at the tooth. Save yourself the headache time and money i wouldn't send my worst enemy to Mickens.

Dr Mickens treated me three times: 1. tooth extraction followed by an implant - no issues even after over 10 years 2. extraction of (3) wisdom teeth - no issues, didn't take a single aspirin 3. referral for root canal from main dentist. Dr Mickens suggested to wait a couple of days, tooth might still be healthy. That was right, still have the tooth up to this day. Very competent and caring for his patients.

Dr. Mickens is concerned, caring, and completely committed to the well-being of the whole individual. In light of my pain, he could easily have told me I needed a root canal. Instead, he thoroughly evaluated the tooth and told me that the tooth was healthy, explained other possible sources of the pain, and referred me to my primary care physician.
