If you’re looking for a dentist who values patient care and professionalism, you may want to steer clear of Dr. Melissa Backman. My experience was marked by unnecessary procedures, poor communication, and a complete lack of empathy.Despite informing the office about recent x-rays from another dentist, Dr. Backman insisted on duplicating them anyway, resulting in insurance denial and a $300 charge. Instead of working with me to resolve the issue, they dug their heels in and refused to treat my child until I paid up—despite their initial promise to sort it out.Basic professionalism, like conducting an insurance verification, could have prevented this mess. Instead, I was met with inflexibility and a dismissive attitude. Patient care shouldn't be a profit-driven game, but that seems to be the priority here. Needless to say, we’ll be finding a new dentist.
