This place is a joke
I missed one appointment because of a death in the family and because I didn't call in and reschedule because my mind was pre occupied dealing with this loss they will no longer have me as a patient this is the only time I have missed and now I'm stuck with what they started and won't finish !!!!!!!!!!DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!

Best dentist around he extracted 9 bottom teeth for me and with know problem the staff and everyone there is great I highly recommend him

I've been going to Dr. J. Shelton in Elkins, WV since 2018, due to my regular dentist leaving town. I liked him okay till his staff called my wife up a day before my appt. to tell me they would No Longer be able to deal with Delta Dental Insurance and I would have to Pay UpFront and Pay the extra out of pocket that Insurance wouldn't cover. My wife told them I work 10 hrs a day, so I would call them as soon as I got off work at 5:30 and Staff said, fine we close at 6:00pm. I called at 5:38pm and NO One answered the phone. My Wife then called Again and left message. I decided it best to see a Dentist in my network since it wouldn't make since to pay more for my Dental visits. Went to pick up my Pano x-rays and the patient note history said, "Patient wife was well aware of arrangement and confirmed appointment. BROKEN APPOINTMENT. TLS" This is an Out Right Lie! What else have they lied about. Makes us Wonder!

From the first time I went to him I felt he was cold and unfeeling. He didn't like my response to couldn't afford to have nice teeth because I didn't have the money to fix them. His hygienist was great but then she left. I can see Why. All they seemed to care about is if I can pay them or not. During Covid he was charging a separate fee of $10.00 for masks paid to him directly, so I left. My New dentist does not charge extra for masks!

Mediocre at best. The cleanings felt rushed. There was a lack of communication. It really didn't feel like a caring environment. Felt like a strip-mall dentist.

In having lived in multiple east coast regions, both urban and rural, I was struck by the thoroughness, cleanliness and care throughout my appointment. Dr. Shelton walked through each step before and during the procedure, taking the time to explain and detail what was occurring. The dental hygienist was very attentive to both the dentist and my needs. A high degree of detail went into a procedure I had performed in the past, and the difference was appreciated and noticed.

Called in to cancel an appointment because my insurance was not active yet. They said it was fine just call in when it is to reschedule. When I called in to reschedule they said that they would not see me because of a missed appointment than hung up on me! I did not miss my appointment I canceled it! I have heard of this same thing happening with them by lots of other people. I would think that they would value their clients enough to not make them pay for office staffs mistakes!
