Values Profits over People
Instead of targeting the underlying causes, Dr. Patel’s initial presentation of services was more of a canned one-size-fits-all approach. It lacked a patient-centric philosophy to thoroughly understand each patient’s specific needs and develop a customized treatment plan. Although it underscored worse-case scenarios, it did not involve a combination of treatments, including lifestyle modifications, stress management techniques, physical therapy, orthodontics as well as oral appliances. The total cost for my treatment was greater than $6,000 (upfront) of which medical and dental insurance paid only a small fraction of the total. It was clearly obvious that Dr. Patel places more emphasis on money and receiving glowing recommendations than on improving the quality of life for TMJ patients. For those reasons, I would advise anyone to seek out more personalized care from other healthcare professionals who actually value and respect people over profits.

Beware
Basically paid over $5,000 for a bite split because our insurance wouldn't cover it and it didn't help. He had little solutions to offer.

Dr Patel is a life-saver! He and his staff are amazingly attentive, very friendly, and went above and beyond the entire duration of my treatment in his office. I went to see him as I heard from my regular dentist that he is the best when it comes to treating TMJ without surgery, and from my experience, I can see why he has earned that reputation! His knowledge base and professionalism was a delight as I knew I was in good hands, and he helped me alleviate an ongoing TMJ issue that I had just learned to "live with" after all these years - but once I started using the appliance he made and with the timely adjustments he'd make to it, it's helped get me to a place I didn't think I'd even be able to ! I'm pain-free and have regained my quality of life back, and I'm so grateful to Dr Patel and his staff for all they do!

I went to Dr Patel after suffering from TMJ issues for several years, and never getting any serious treatment solutions from any doctor I visited. After a few short weeks using the appliance he made me, I feel like I’ve gotten my life back!!!! I can do ‘normal’ things like eat and talk and move my mouth/jaw without experiencing excruciating pain!!! It’s been truly life-changing!! And I owe it to Dr Patel and his immense knowledge for helping me achieve this breakthrough in my treatment! He and his staff are amazing !!! :)

I have never heard anything of TMJ and always had “ear infections” saw an ENT and he quickly stated I needed surgery on my nose & ears to fix the ear infections. So obviously i wanted relief from the pain ASAP agreed to surgery not even a month later the pain was back and I could barely stand it. Long story short I went to a different ENT and he said that it wasn’t an ear infection and I really need to see someone who specializes in TMJ and her referred me to Dr Patel in 2017/2018. Making an appointment was so smoothly and then even walking in my first visit the employees were so kind! Dr Patel checked everything stated it was TMJ. I appreciated him going over everything with me in detail & explaining how it would all work. My pain was gone in a couple of months & felt awesome going forward!

I went in January 2020. Dr Patel's office charged me $75 for initial consultation and offered me the service of insurance evaluation. They told me that because of scarcity of Dr Patel's TMJ skills, my insurance had a high chance of classifying the service as in-network if I explained the fact to my insurance. They said in worst case I would be charged by out-of-the-network service where my co-insurance would be 40%. After the evaluation, they even gave me a printed green insurance evaluation sheet and they marked on 40% as they explained to me. I believed them and paid over $5500 up front. Sadly, we ended up paying 100% out of pocket on treatment! Aetna told me that TMJ "Durable Medical Equipment" code the office sent was categorically excluded from ANY coverage. The doctor has been in TMJ practice for DECADES. Is it possible that he did not know about the coverage possibility of his mouthguard?

The office staff were very pleasant. I was in an extreme amount of pain and could hardly open my mouth to eat. During my visit I asked Dr. Patel if my TMJ would go away after treatment or was I going to have to live with it the rest of my life. He said it would always be an ongoing problem for me. Next thing I know I am signing an agreement for financing treatment for $5000. thinking that I would need his services for a long time. I should have left and found another doctor. I then saw a physical therapist for several weeks and because of those treatments and guidelines the therapist gave me to control my TMJ I am relatively free of pain. Dr. Patel takes advantage of patients that are seeking help with a painful problem and TMJ can be very painful.

I visited Dr. Patel after my dentist indicated they couldn't do anything else for me and my jaw pain. I was wearing a night guard, but it wasn't helping. I have 2 slipped disks in my jaw, and the pain was waking me up at night. I was waking up with headaches. Dr. Patel and his staff did a thorough job taking scans and photos during my first visit, explained options to me, and ultimately fit me for a bite guard. I'm now two weeks in to wearing the new appliance and have no pain. Dr. Patel and his staff have been easy to work with. Yes, you have to pay up front, but your insurance is billed and taken care of by the office.

Although I initially went to Dr. Patel for sleep apnea, he uncovered the reason for some jaw pain and diagnosed me with TMJ. The most rewarding outcome for the treatment of the TMJ was that it relieved at least 80% of the chronic neck pain I've had for 30 years. What a bonus!

Dr. Patel is a great doctor. My wife had terrible TMJ pain. To the point where she couldn’t even eat or even talk. We were in and out of emergency rooms trying to figure out what was going on and then we received a recommendation to Dr. Patels office and that’s when our life changed. He explained everything to us from why she was in pain all up to how to treat it. He gave us a sense of security and happiness. He is amazing

Easy from start to finish. Appointment was scheduled well in advance as necessary to accommodate my schedule. I was called in less than five minutes of arrival. Session went smoothly; staff is very friendly and professional, not just Dr. Patel, but also his assistant Vicky and receptionist Annamarie, who is always friendly and courteous every time I visit.

Dr Patel and his staff were fantastic! I was afraid that my TMJ was something that I was going to have to live with, but Dr Patel had a solution. After clearly showing me what was happening with my jaw, Dr Patel put me on a program to reduce the issues connected with my TMJ. And it has worked perfectly: no more lockjaw, no more "clicking", no more pain! Thank you Dr Patel and all the great folks at Advanced Centers!

I went to Dr. Patel while in extreme pain due to a locked jaw from TMJ. He took time to explain exactly what was going on in a way that I could understand easily. A treatment plan was presented, and although the appliance was very expensive, my husband and I decided to take the chance with the hope that it would help. This appliance helped more than I could have imagined. Initially, it hurt my mouth, but after an adjustment, it felt fine, and after a week of wearing it as prescribed, I feel a great improvement! I was waking up every day with a severe, migraine type headache, and it is such a relief to not wake up to that anymore. I highly recommend Dr. Patel to anyone suffering from TMJ!

Dr. Patel did not fully resolve the issue that I had. He did not listen to me when I said that the appliance was not fitting well. I spent close to $6,000.00 with him and now have to pay a new dentist $6,500.00 to correct the problem. I do not recommend his services.

Dr Patel is amazing! I had been to COUNTLESS providers from ent's to neurologists, to medical doctors. Some doctors even made me feel as though i was "crazy" and the pain was "all in my head". I even started to believe them. I finally found Dr. Patel through a friend , and he has literally saved me. I do not need to take all the medications I used to take every day, and my pain is FINALLY better. Thank you!!

I definitely agree with the other reviews. You have to pay up front. I paid over $5,000 for TMJ services . After 4 months my pain returned. The only thing Dr. Patel did was fit me for my "appliance" which was a very expensive mouth guard and kept adjusting it . This appliance costed me over $2000.00. I paid $350.00 for a night guard from my regular dentist, which was better made than this so called appliance that Dr. Patel made and charged me. If you need TMJ services please don't come to him.

You pay up front and good care ended as soon as a check was received. At the end of my treatment Dr. Patel said "okay great you never have to see me again" He never even asked if my symptoms were improved or reevaluated me. Appointments after I received my appliance lasted no longer than 15 sec Save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else. Personality wise Patel changed around my parent and without the presence of an adult was rude and cold.
