Coordination with Aetna insurance was atrocious. My wife began an implant procedure after being given and estimate of our share of the cost. This required calling Aetna. So why if they called to get an estimate did they not request authorization? The Aetna plan specifically states: If you seek care from an Aetna PPO participating provider, your provider will automatically, when necessary, submit predetermination information to the network. This did not happen! We found out halfway through the implant process so what choice did we have but to pay out of pocket the entire expense. I appealed this denial twice to Aetna and asked the dental office for some help in form of a compromise but I received no offer of any kind. We were left holding the bag. As far as the dental work it was fine and no complaints. However, apparently the monkey is on your back to do the insurance coordinators job. I guess it's a sign of the times, do everything yourself.
