Biography: Dr. Haghighat graduated from Amherst College with a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience in 1993, and he received his MD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1998. Dr. Haghighat remained in Philadelphia where he completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine in 2001. He headed south to Emory University for his Cardiology fellowship which he completed in 2004. Dr. Haghighat then went to the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans for his advanced sub-specialty training in Interventional Cardiology and Peripheral Vascular Intervention which he completed in 2006, serving as Chief Interventional Cardiology Fellow during his last year.In 2006, Dr. Haghighat joined the Cardiovascular Institute of Northwest Florida and helped spearhead the burgeoning peripheral vascular program. Shortly after his arrival, Dr. Haghighat initiated the first and only carotid stent registry in the region, and he continues to serve as the principal investigator. Dr Haghighat is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease with added qualifications in Interventional Cardiology, Endovascular Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology. He is a fellow in the American College of Cardiology.
